Three Alignments Initiative Kicks Off: Joint Efforts for New Progress in Infectious Disease Control

The 4th Conference of the Infectious Disease Specialty Alliance of the National Center for Infectious Diseases and the 6th Academic Conference of the Hospital Directors Alliance, co-hosted by Beijing Ditan Hospital, Capital Medical University and Wuhan Jinyintan Hospital, Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, was recently held in Wuhan, Hubei Province. Centered on the theme “New Century, New Journey”, the conference brought together more than 500 clinical specialists, healthcare administrators, research elites and industry representatives nationwide in the field of infectious diseases. Participants discussed pathways for high-quality development covering cutting-edge advances in infectious disease prevention and treatment, the development of collaborative innovation systems, and intelligent diagnosis and treatment.

The conference featured one main venue and six parallel sub-venues. Keynote presentations focused on the prevention and control of emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases, AI-enabled development of infectious disease hospitals, and the advancement of high-quality HIV care systems, sharing latest research findings and practical experience from medical institutions. The six sub-sessions conducted in-depth exchanges on topics including HIV reservoir suppression, ethical mutual recognition, clinical trial collaboration, hospital administration, translational research of traditional Chinese medicine, and medical insurance management. A set of pioneering landmark outcomes was also unveiled at the conference to advance research on major infectious diseases and demonstrate China’s innovative strength in infectious disease medicine.

The "Three Alignments Initiative" was officially launched. As a strategic cooperation framework initiated nationwide by the National Center for Infectious Diseases (Beijing), the Initiative integrates resources from healthcare, research, industry, prevention and control sectors. It pursues shared goals through Joint Endeavor, unified standards and specifications through Consistent Quality, and pooled resources through Co-creation, to build an open, shared ecosystem for collaborative innovation.

AI-enabled infectious disease prevention and treatment stood out as a major highlight of the event. The intelligent pre-triage agent for fever screening Zhi Gan Shao and the evidence-based infectious disease assistant Gan Zheng Tong were showcased, delivering intelligent support for evidence-based triage of febrile patients and early detection of infectious diseases in primary care settings and strengthening frontline primary care capacity.

Additionally, the “1 Guideline + 2 Consensuses” for Functional Cure of Chronic Hepatitis B, developed under the leadership of the Liver Disease Center of Beijing Ditan Hospital, was officially released. It provides standardized operational pathways for the clinical management of chronic hepatitis B. Grounded in evidence-based medicine and targeting unmet clinical needs, the three authoritative documents systematically standardize the full workflow, including pre-treatment assessment, on-treatment monitoring and adverse event management, supporting the evidence-based rollout and implementation of functional cure regimens for chronic hepatitis B.
